June MLC

Ready for the day.

 Working together in small groups.

Discussing what we've learned from the
example of other missionaries.

Talking about following the Savior's example
of teaching by the way.

Arriving in a Hurry

This group of missionaries arrived early at the airport,
so early, in fact, that the camera had not arrived. Hence,
there are no pictures of them coming down the escalator.
They arrived though with suitcases, boxes and bikes!

Here they are ready to receive their companions and
share their first testimonies in the mission field.

Our new missionaries and their companions:

Sister Bartschi (R) from Nevada
and her companion, Sister Harris.

 Elder Broadhead (L) from Utah
and his companion, Elder Jackson.

Sister Butler (L) from North Carolina
and her companion, Sister Wilde.

Sister Lesser (R) from Australia by way of Utah
and her companion, Sister DiPietro.

Sister Marshall (R) from Utah
and her companion, Sister Keith.

 Elder Rollins (R) from Utah
with his companion, Elder Phister.

Elder Roper (R) from Utah
and his companion, Elder Drebot.

Sister Rossignoli (L) from Pennsylvania
and her companion, Sister Diamond.

Sister Troncoso (R) from Colorado
and her companion, Sister Rodriguez.

As the day wound down it was time for dessert
and getting acquainted.

The assistants were with us all day, training the trainers,
conducting meetings and keeping things on track.
Elder Parson and Elder Anderson.

Sister Marshall is waiting for a visa and will be heading to
Portugal, but we're glad to have her with us even for a short time.

Sister Lesser has been called to serve in Taiwan.  Lucky for
us her visa is a little slow in arriving.

She who laughs last...  It was a great day!

The Lord Bless You and Keep You

22 And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,
23 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying,
On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them,
24 The Lord bless thee, and keep thee:
25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
27 And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
                                                                                                                     (Numbers 6)
This was the instruction given to those who
served the children of Israel in the temple, but it
also speaks the feelings of our hearts as missionaries depart.

Here is the group that left for home in May of 2017.

Elder Dall is on the right.

Assistants to the President)

Elder Calder, next to President Norman.

Sister Reed (center) and Sister Stone (right)

Companion study with Pres. Mullen.

(On the table are the notebooks containing pages for
every missionary who has served in the
California Riverside Mission)

Our faithful assistants, Elder Heward and Elder Ly arrived
at 5:45 a.m. to take Sister Stone to an early flight.

Breakfast, round two.

We should have left a space for Sister Stone who left earlier.
Elder Calder, Sister Reed and Elder Dall just before leaving
for the airport.

Each missionary marks their favorite verses in
President Mullen's scriptures, a sweet remembrance
for us of the missionaries who have served here.

May multi zone conferences

Zone Conferences are always great events.  Of course
the traditional photo is taken.  Across from these photos
is a group of photographers almost as big as the group
in the photo!  Many cameras are going off at once.
It's sometimes hard to know when the pictures are being taken!
In some of these photos below the shutters were
clicking when no one knew.  The photos are probably
a better reflection of what's really happening as we try
to get an entire zone of missionaries to stand still at once!

Menifee Zone

Lake Elsinor Zone

(For these next three shots we were missing Pres. Mullen
who was at the dentist for a couple of hours.)

 Riverside Zone

Mt. Rubidoux Zone

Corona Zone

Jurupa Zone

La Sierra Zone

Moreno Valley Zone

Hemet Zone

San Jacinto Zone

Not every moment of the day was so formal.
These photos result from Sister Mullen inviting the missionaries
to "Get in a group and smile at your moms."

Of course there was time for instruction...

...and lunch.

Even an injury couldn't keep Elder Gulbranson away.
No one wants to miss Zone Conference.
